Sometimes the icons for your apps randomly disappear from the start-up menu such as chrome, Microsoft, and other downloaded apps so that all that's left are the generic apps. (It has something with those shortcuts being synced with the server that all of the school computers are connected to). Here is a solution to the issue:
Restart and Connect to Fulton County Wifi
Wait for the apps to redownload (This may take a while)
Launch the apps you need on a regular basis (Word, Powerpoint, Outlook, Chrome, Movie Maker… etc.)
Right click on each app’s icon on the taskbar at the bottom of the screen
A pop-up menu should appear and select “Pin to Taskbar” for each app
Now you can access these apps at all times.
